OUR STORY

In 1950, a young watchmaker named Cliff Cargile arrived in the small town of Oneonta with a skill in his hands and a dream in his heart. With experience in jewelry making and watch repair, Cliff believed that beautiful jewelry and honest craftsmanship could build something special in a close-knit community. That same year, he opened a small jewelry store on Main Street — the beginning of what would become Cargile Jewelers.

Cliff wasn't alone in his dream. His wife, Kathleen, stood beside him from the very beginning. Together, they built the store not just as a place to buy jewelry, but as a place where neighbors and friends could celebrate life's most meaningful moments — engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and milestones that would be remembered for generations.

As the years passed and the business grew, the store moved to its current location, but the heart of Cargile Jewelers remained the same: craftsmanship, trust, and personal service. Cliff and Kathleen worked side by side as partners, guiding the store through its early decades and establishing a reputation for quality that the community came to rely on.

When Cliff passed away in 1975, Kathleen carried the legacy forward with strength and dedication. For more than thirty years, she continued serving customers with the same warmth and commitment that had defined the store since the beginning. Under her leadership, Cargile Jewelers remained a trusted part of the community until her passing in 2009.

That same year, the next chapter of the family story began when Trisha Cargile Ganey took over the business. With deep respect for the foundation laid by her parents, Trisha is committed to preserving the traditions that made Cargile Jewelers special while guiding the store into the future.

An important part of that story is John Gooch, who joined the Cargile Jewelers team in 1991. Bringing years of experience and a passion for the jewelry industry, John quickly became an essential part of the store's success. For more than three decades, he has helped maintain the level of expertise, craftsmanship, and customer care that customers have come to expect.

Today, more than seven decades after a small storefront first opened on Main Street, Cargile Jewelers continues to serve the Oneonta community with the same values it was built on in 1950. Owner Trisha Cargile Ganey and John Gooch are proud to carry on the tradition of helping families celebrate life's most meaningful moments.

As we move forward into our 76th year of business, we remain deeply grateful for the loyalty, trust, and friendships of the customers who have supported us through the generations. Your stories have become part of ours, and we are honored to continue serving you for many years to come. ✨
